NESHTA'S TRAINING SKILLS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR...

  • anyone who wants or needs to learn the basic skills for training adults
  • anyone (including experienced trainers) who want to improve their course planning and presentation skills
  • trainers who need to demonstrate basic competency as required by 29 CFR 1910.120 & other federal regulations
  • trainers who wish to implement and train in conformance to ANSI/ASSE Z49
  • trainers and training managers responsible for delivering technical or mandatory training under OSHA, DOT, RCRA, SARA and state regulations
  • those preparing for the Instructional Technology test of BCSP's Certified Environmental, Safety and Health Trainer (CET) or Certified Instructional Technologist examination
 

Note: While this course serves as a preparatory course for the CET Board of Certification's Instructional Technology test, it is NOT a "cram course." It is an intensive course covering all the essential skills and knowledge for training adults as specified in ANSI Z490-1, Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health and Environmental Training.

Learning Objectives: From memory, participants should be able to perform the following:

  • Describe the responsibilities of various employees for safety, health, and environmental (SHE) training and compliance

  • Describe the responsibilities of various employees within the specialty areas in which you train

  • Identify required elements of a SHE training program and elements of evaluation

  • Identify required elements of a training program within your specialty area, and the elements of evaluation

  • Explain how to perform a training needs analysis

  • Write a task analysis

  • Develop learning objectives

  • Design a lesson plan

  • Identify different learning styles

  • Explain how to manage a classroom environment

  • Explain characteristics of adult learners

  • Deliver a lesson plan

  • Demonstrate how to use multiple instructional strategies

  • Demonstrate how to use media to enhance presentations

  • Identify how to use tests appropriately

  • Explain methods of program validation

  • Explain the importance of documentation

  • is usually scheduled on the day following most workshops
  • requires a separate application and fee. Information and downloadable forms are available below, or contact NESHTA for additional information
  • requires the submission of an application at least two weeks prior to scheduled exams
  • is available b special arrangement at U.S. and Canadian colleges and universities, and testing centers worldwide

Tuition Fee:  For NESHTA-delivered courses only, $1095 for NESHTA members or $1195 for non-members. Registration fees vary at cooperating institutions.
